ASFiNAG procures 60 TDC3-8 vehicle detectors

Eschenbach, October 31, 2014ADEC Technologies delivers 60 of its top-of-the-line TDC3-8 vehicle classification detectors to ASFiNAG for installation at IGL sites. IGL refers to an Austrian law that codifies air pollution limits on highways. Each IGL measurement point comprises a gantry with detectors and a VMS indicating the current speed limit. The limit is reduced when the emissions – calculated from the actual air quality as well as from the speed and number of vehicles in each class – exceed a certain threshold. Conversely, the speed limits are raised when the opposite occurs.

TDC3-8 devices classify vehicles into 8+1 vehicle classes according to TLS. Classification accuracy meets or exceeds TLS A1 level for all but car with trailer (79.3%), trucks with trailer (A2) and busses (A2). Vehicle speed measurement is also well above the TLS-required accuracy levels, at 2.48 km/h (for vehicles with speeds = 100 km/h) and 2.11% respectively (for vehicles speeds > 100 km/h).

Markus Güntensperger, Product manager at ADEC Technologies adds that “Our engineers have done an outstanding job in bringing out this next version of the three-technology traffic detectors – It’s a significant step forward and we’re excited to be able to offer such superior detection quality”

The tests were commissioned by an independent ITS provider in Austria on an ASFiNAG testing site. The detailed test report will be published on ADEC Technologies’ website.

ADEC Technologies expands the Observer product line and adds the Observer II people tracker

Eschenbach – January 29th, 2014: ADEC Technologies AG, a technology firm located in Eschenbach (SG) in Switzerland, announced today the immediate release of the Observer II people tracker.

“Following the introduction of the Observer One last summer, we are extremely excited to announce the immediate availability of the powerful Observer II people counter and tracker. The platform permits installation of larger-scale people tracking projects with great accuracy while protecting each person’s privacy. The Observer II provides the analytics for up to five depth sensors that can be connected via USB, Ethernet or even PoE (power-over-Ethernet)” explains Markus Güntensperger, Product Manager at ADEC Technologies.

The Observer II integrates easily with both other Observer II and Observer One devices to expand the detection zone throughout which counting lines and polygon counting zones can be installed, overlapping adjacent detection zones not only between sensors of the same Observer II, but sensors of any Observer device on the same network, even different types of 3D sensors.

The Observer II supports TOF (time-of-flight) sensors from Mesa Imaging as well as structure light depth sensors from ASUS. More depth sensors will be added as they become available.

Privacy-protecting people counter released!

Eschenbach – July 16th, 2013: ADEC Technologies AG, a technology firm located in Eschenbach (SG) in Switzerland, announced today the release of its first product of a new line of people counting and tracking devices, the Observer One.

“We are extremely excited to finally introduce this product to the market. It took several years of development. During our development, the entire technology available to us changed dramatically. Incorporating these new technologies, we are now able to offer a privacy-preserving, highly accurate people counter to applications that, up until now, would require more expensive solutions or ones which were incompatible with common privacy protection regulation,” comments Andreas Hartmann, marketing manager at ADEC.

The product is the first of its kind. Instead of traditional cameras, the Observer One uses a structured light camera, invented by PrimeSense and brought into the mainstream by Microsoft via its Xbox gaming console. The device cannot acquire images even if the user wanted to, it’s inherently impossible to violate people’s privacy. Secondly, the device is powered via 802.3af Power-over-Ethernet, making it extremely easy to wire an installation. Devices can be located as far as 100 m (330 ft.) from the power injector or any 802.3af-compatible networking gear.
